looking ahead...

to the rest of this year it's difficult to know what may happen.
I don't even have a calendar yet to pencil things into,
but I have the sense we may journey into new territory.

one of my main concerns will be to have the trio
performing again throughout these great united states of ours.
not really new territory I know, but we'll make it seem new.
and perhaps to revisit some of our international favorites.

a new solo record, now that I have a studio again,
that is a must and it definitely will include new territory.

performing by myself with an internationally famous orchestra,
now that is certainly new and truly one of the biggest
undertakings of my long and storied career.
but of course that will be finished (sadly) by march.
which leaves a lot of year to fill.

there are several very new ideas being discussed
and I hope soon to announce at least one of them.
or they may crash and burn in flames
like so many good ideas.

either way I feel empowered by possibilites...

  9. What? No more of the same old same old that we've become so accustomed to with Adrian Belew? Here's a suggestion - play the Rio Theatre when you come to Santa Cruz. That will be a nice change from the Catalyst. Wow! A comfortable venue... something the Catalyst will NEVER be. CU Here!

  10. 2010 was the first time in many years that I didn't get to see a concert (or three) of yours. I hope I can remedy that this year. Have a great new year!

  14. Any collaboration with Trent Reznor on his movie scoring ? Certain parts of the " Social Network " score sounded like you ....which is not something that happens often enough ;)

  15. +1 on The Bears.

Whatever happens, please consider playing The Pageant in STL (a few blocks up Delmar from Blueberry Hill). Just once. I can't take the sardine-packed crowd rudeness that is The Duck Room.

  16. i sure wish adrian would give us something along the lines of an Op Zop Too Wah. that was the perfect album form me- it had his brilliant pop stuff, but it also had the "out there" avant-garde
type pieces as well. adrian will always be my favorite, but the last 3 releases never really got stuck in my head like Op Zop and everything before it did.

  17. If you've got some spare time, I'd love to see another acoustic release to add to my collection. I just stumbled across my copy of The Acoustic Adrian Belew and started fondly remembering just how much I listened to it when I first got it.

  19. the best laid plans never get laid, right? Not necessarily- or maybe almost..

Whatever you do in the future, I hope you find happiness and rekindle or invent anything that makes you happy deep in your heart. You always had quite the mischievous twinkle in your eyes.. A ball of fire and a lot of fun. Don't overlook the folks that love you and want you to succeed and be happy. Bon Voyage.

  20. blah blah blah, woof woof woof
we're all a little too comfortable in our own skin.
we need to suffer in an self-inflicted way.
that's why camping can be fun with no electronic gadgets.
just the fire and an acoustic. maybe a Martin.

    i love Adrian's music

  21. i am really exited about the holland gig . i could only imagine how much it means to you but i am really looking forward to a super high quality dvd (fingers crossed). it sounds like something i would re-watch a few too many times . like most of your pro shot concert vids i own , the club cafe being the latest , those are real treasures in my collection , and i relish breaking them out for personal fetishism and occasionally sharing something different with the uninitiated . i think my mom would even enjoy the holland gig . i forced her to sit thru "life in a nutshell" on my birthday , my mother is a very religious women , with limited musical exposure , she considers harry nillson to be pushing it a bit . when it was over i asked her "what do you think about this guy ? " she goes "whooo whooo weeeee woooow " (air guitar) is that all he does ? "
i completely lost it , oh well .
i was consoled by the variations of wave pressure on you tube , seeing as we could not make it to painting with guitar . it had a certain "desire" feel which makes me smile . really looking forward to whatever comes down the pike . the axe fx ultra looks like quite the companion to your golden guitar . have fun , break some strings , blow some fuses , and break a leg in holland (watch were you step though) .
