today it is being announced at last.
something I've been wanting to tell you for a month now:
I've been asked to be the guitarist for Nine Inch Nails!
we're going on an extensive world tour,
reaching places even I have never been!
I'll be moving (temporarily) to LA in may
for 3 months of rehearsals after which the tour begins.
that's about as much as I know for sure for now.
daniel rowland will be assisting me on the tour
which should allow us some time to continue
our third year of making my new solo project.
here is what trent reznor released today:
Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.
I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Joshua Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.
Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon.
TR
I hope to see you there.
keep checking for updates on the entire process.
love,
adrian
YES - congrats on the gig! Here's hoping for a Knoxville stop!
ReplyDeleteYou must play Montreal!!!
ReplyDeleteIts about time you were back on a stage worthy of your talent. I'm sure Trent wants you there to be all you can be and no one else can do it like you. Your playing with the electronics and the big production will be amazing I guess that means we wont be getting to hang out around a campfire anymore drinking stella but we cant wait to see the show you come up with.
ReplyDeleteSteve and Dawn

ReplyDeletethis rules soooo much!
ReplyDeleteThis is the most exciting music-related news I've heard for a long time! If you're in Toronto, Montreal, Buffalo, or anywhere else nearby, I'm there.
ReplyDeleteI've always waited for this day since I heard you on The Downward Spiral. It's going to be beautiful. Hope to see you in Spain (northwest).

ReplyDeleteCongrats Adrian! Always love your style of guitar playing as you push through the barriers. I enjoy the progressive, hard rock as well and think you will be a wonderful fit onstage! Ready for a face melter......John in Portland, OR!
ReplyDeleteYay! NOT just another manic Monday!
ReplyDeleteSurprise #1: Crimson ProjeKCt releasing new material prior to Ade's NIN tour?
Hey, just shooting for the moon...
Wow, I guess I'm going to see Nine Inch Nails for the first time. Congrats on the gig!
ReplyDeleteGreat news!! This is why I continue to check this site often. Been waiting patiently for your next musical direction!! Loved the work you did on Ghosts. It's playing right now!!
ReplyDeleteYo Adrian! Great news! I have a feeling you will shave your head! Best gig since you played with Bowie in the 90's! I saw you with "The Bears" a long time ago in a galaxy far away. Hope to see you with NIN in Austin, TX. I saw the last 2 tours here & NIN with Bowie without you. Things have come full circle!
ReplyDeleteAdrian - that's a long time to be away from your family. Is everything OK? Good luck with NIN and on tour.
ReplyDeleteDan
I look forward to seeing you and Reznor play Mr. Belew. Considering your work on Downward Spiral, this is the best thing that could possible happen. I can't wait to hear it.
ReplyDeleteWas so excited when I saw this on the NIN site! Yourself, Eric and Trent are 3 of my favourite musicians of all time so the opportunity to see you together on something fresh is amazing.
ReplyDeletePlease play Dublin!
Big smiles for you Adrian.....congrats !!!! Looking forward to this :)))
ReplyDeleteThis has been a fantasy of mine for years, when I got into KC about more than 6 years ago and I heard you played on the Downward Spiral it left longing for more of that twangy goodness mixed with Reznor's stuff. I even started a twitter account to harass him to work with you, maybe that did it. I thought it would never happen but damn out of the blue its too unreal.
ReplyDeleteI've used the tracks you played on from Ghosts as wake up music for my kids before school. Seems to get them to stir when I blast it while making coffee.
ReplyDeleteId recommend Budgie & Trey Gunn, I hope Trent lets you duet with him, because I think your Lennonesque vioce would match. I hope you can help OUt suggesting dada art strategies for the new music.
ReplyDeleteIn a fair world, Harmonia & Michael Rother would be support acts.
I love the news! Admittedly, i was hoping that the surprise would be an announcement that you would be touring with Bowie.....but honestly, this is just as awesome!
ReplyDeleteAustralia...pleaaaaase!
ReplyDeleteThis news made my year. Hope to see you soon in Holland.
