here are a couple of shots of the Mercedes 300 SL before I sold it. keep in mind it was a replica. the real thing costs several
hundred thousand dollars. they are very sought after. only 1,000 are known to exist worldwide. made in 1957 the 300 SL roadster and its brother the notorious "Gullwing" 300 SL coupe brought Mercedes Benz back from near-total destruction in World War II. this is the car that announced their return to dominance in racing and production cars. I hated to sell even a replica of such a beautiful car. it is my favorite body style ever to dress a production vehicle. but it financed my brand new Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, also an awesome car.
A minor carbuff as well as a fan, when I saw your studio tour on the DVD a few years back, I wanted to know more about the 300 SL. It does look beautiful, and I would love to know what "brand" of replica it is. I saw that one shop that makes a kit is Lonestar, but their pictures are not as lovely as your car's. There's a great book out there about a writer taking on the challenge of putting together a Lotus Super 7 kit car - a great read! For myself, I know well enough that I wouldn't be able to finish a fabrication myself.

ReplyDeleteFor my musicology class (simply called 'Rock'), I've been assigned a 5-7 page paper on the song of my choice. I've chosen Frame by Frame. The paper is a dry analysis of the song's lyrical, musical, and productive elements I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about the song, mostly about the recording/writing process and about some of the equipment used, or if you at least knew where to find information on the latter (I'm thinking microphones used, instruments used, etc).

I hope to hear from you, and good luck with the car-selling. My father is trying to sell his car right now to a new company that rents custom/luxury cars to famous clients (athletes, etc) when they are in town (the towns being Miami and New York, I think). It's probably something you should look into, as I'm sure a 300SL gullwing is right up the company's alley.

ReplyDeleteThat was a very pretty one. Have you checked out the new " Tesla " roadster? It looks to be very cool, beautifully designed by Lotus after the Elise. It runs on a 950 lb. bundle of lithium ion batteries! They claim it can go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds.And best of all...it comes in silver :)

would hate to think a guitarist of your stature would have to sell anything.(especially with all the albums of yours i have bought). as a mopar parts advisor i say good choice on the crossfire!
